Pre-Operative Instructions
- All minors (patients under 18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Wear comfortable clothing. Do not wear dresses, skirts, romers, jumpsuits, crop tops, or waist trainers. We recommend wearing a short-sleeved shirt.
- If you receive a prescription for a preoperative sedative, please pick it up from your designated pharmacy and take it as directed.
- If you use an inhaler, please bring it on the day of your surgery.
- Unless directed otherwise, you may take your normal, daily medication with a small sip of water.
- Please bring any removable devices (i.e., retainers) as discussed at your consultation.
Local Anesthetic Surgeries (Patient Is Awake)
- If you are only receiving local anesthesia, you do not need to refrain from eating or drinking prior to your surgery.
- If you were prescribed a preoperative sedative, a valid driver must take you to and from your appointment.
IV Sedation Surgeries (Patient Is “Asleep”)
- If you are receiving general anesthesia (IV sedation), do not eat or drink for 8 hours prior to your surgery. This includes water.
- Do not wear makeup, jewelry, or bring any valuables. Remove all nail polish—including gels or acrylics— from the index fingers of each hand.
- A valid river must be present with you on the morning of your procedure. A driver from a ride-share service, such as Uber or Lyft, or a taxi driver do not qualify as valid drivers.
- Your driver must remain on the premises for the entire duration of your procedure. They are not permitted to leave at any time and will be asked to remain in their vehicle.
